Landlord registration in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland

Updated . Checked against official sources.

Each UK nation runs its own landlord register. Registering in one doesn't cover another, and England's new register works differently from all three.

Letting in more than one nation

Each property follows the rules where it is. A landlord with a flat in Glasgow and a house in Leeds registers with Scotland's register for the flat and with England's service for the house, paying both fees.

England's register is also new: it opens on 15 December 2026, region by region. Check your English property's deadline.
